European Researchers’ Night 2023 at NTUA

The European Researchers’ Night is a pan-European public event that is organized annually and brings researchers closer to the public.

SmartRUE – Smart Grids Research Unit ECE NTUA has participated in 2023 EC Researchers’ night which was held at the historic Architecture School Building of the National Technical University of Athens on 29th September 2023.

SmartRue had the chance to inform secondary school students and the wider public about the research and educational activities of the group such as;

  • RE-EMPOWERED EU-India Project, a H2020 project that brings together experts from two continents, Europe and India, with a view to develop and demonstrate novel solutions for all stages of a Microgrid / Energy Island and Multi-Microgrid applications.
  • APEX- Smart Management Hub of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency Κόμβος ευφυούς διαχείρισης ΑΠΕΞ, an educational program funded by HFRI ΕΛΙΔΕΚ – Ελληνικό Ίδρυμα Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας, aiming to transfer scientific knowledge and innovation to secondary education regarding modern electrical energy systems, renewable sources, energy saving and smart-grids.
  • The ERIGrid 2.0 Project, a H2020 program which fosters support and education for industrial and academic researchers in power and energy systems research and technology development.
  • SYNERGY project, a H2020 program which promotes the creation of a data-driven intelligence ecosystem that not only supports energy operators in improving efficiency in supply operations but also enables prosumer inclusiveness in market transactions
  • X- FLEX, a H2020 program which proposes, a set of efficient, cost-effective, integrated solutions, that will facilitate the optimum combination of decentralised flexibility assets
  • Every1: Enable eVeryone’s Engagement in the eneRgY transitiON, a Horizon Europe program whose goal is to engage and train future
    ecosystems, while also creating networks that will lead to a wider uptake of the capacity building material produced by the consortium.

It was a well organized, well attended event! The public showed keen interest to be informed about the latest technologies in Renewables and Smart Grid technologies and the related research conducted at the Electric Energy Systems Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens!
